Who Uses Acronis Disk Director and Why Is It Important?

My current setup is Windows 7 64 bit, Download Acronis Disk Director For Free 11.5, and Ubuntu Linux 10.04.3 LTS. About a week ago, I tested my new ACD 11.5 disk as an external USB drive and it behaved no differently than the previous ACD 10. For what it’s worth, I noticed several challenges with the new version of Acronis Disk Director 11.5 since it doesn’t recognize the ExFAT partitioning scheme of one of my hard drives (this is the only partitioning scheme that NTFS doesn’t support, but on this hard drive there is nothing but unpartitioned disk space).

When I got DD11.5 installed on a different USB key, I couldn’t find the internal fat32 partition that was previously there. After investigating the new partitioning scheme and shrinking the partition to a size that was smaller than the USB key, I used the DD recovery disc to reinstall. Unfortunately, that didn’t work. The recovery disk wouldn’t detect the fat32 partition either. I only have one internal HDD. DD didn’t recognize any of the other USB or internal drives on the computer. (The install disc thinks it sees everything, but that doesn’t mean much without the main drive being recognized.)

The previous version of Acronis Disk Director supported the Marvell partitioning scheme. The problem that I am having is that this disk will not be reformatted. When I use the disk on another computer with Acronis, it shows the Marvell partitioning scheme. When the disk is in the computer that it came from, Acronis says it needs to be reformatted. None of the disks show as being in the computer. In each of these instances, I have tried the DD recovery boot disc.
