For starters, 3D Models generated using the Agisoft Metashape Professional software are compatible with both Autodesk Inventor Professional and Autodesk Revit software. Any 2D Revit element that was placed on the building is automatically translated and scaled to fit within a 3D model. As Revit is built for 3D modeling, it is also the most stable 2D representation possible for 3D models.

You can also use Agisoft Metashape Professional to generate Sketchup models. Agisoft Metashape is compatible with Sketchup Pro and Sketchup Enterprise to provide a 2D representation of your 3D model. These models are only georeferenced, which is a process that is done to position the image in the global coordinate system. Today we have the trendy trend of Instagram-powered 3D scanning. This is another spinoff of the similar 3D scanning software Globals3d. These services generate meshes from photographs using the Photon Mapper technology which includes tools for scanning professional cameras. Photon Mapper is one of the coolest, most revolutionary technologies on the market today, but its not without some caveats. Photon Mapper essentially does two things – it takes one 2D image of the surface, and it takes a series of shots and overlays them on a canvas to make a 3D model. This is probably as good as it gets for creating meshes – and Im perfectly fine with it. What this means is that you need to be ready to either take one of those digital photos from the tripod everytime, or rely on a friend taking one. Photon Mapper has a well thought out workflow and tools, but you cant expect to be able to perform complex editing in MeshLab or be able to batch the entire process like Autodesks ReMake. Furthermore, Photon Mapper likes to take a few extra frames and then reduce the quality a bit to make things look better – this is fine, but you should be aware of it – ask for the original quality (the number in the lower right corner of the canvases) as its the standard. The Photon Mapper service ships models in.ply format – which is simply png files with 3d object data inside – so they should be fine to use for most things, but there are some downsides that make me a bit nervous:
